Brian Mark Real Estate

About Us: 25 Years experience in the Industry

In 1982 Brian Mark Real Estate first opened its doors at 124 Watton Street Werribee (the shop now occupied by the Cheesecake Shop near Hungry Jacks). Brian Mark had re-located to Werribee from Ballarat to further educate his youngest son Russell, who at the time wanted to attend university to obtain his Valuer's Licence. With a background in marketing and building, Brian saw the Wyndham area as a hot spot for real estate with affordable prices, its proximity to the city and its traditional country feel.

The real estate business was opened in conjunction with a video library run by Brian's wife Joan. With everyone who hired a video asked if they knew of anyone who was thinking of selling, a promise of a free video of your home when you sold and Brian's gregarious nature, the real estate business quickly grew. Within a few years the real estate business was to prove more profitable than hiring videos, so the video business was sold to concentrate solely on selling real estate.

Brian, who was raised in the Mallee, bought many of his old fashioned country values to the business. He instilled in all his staff that your word was your bond and that although sales were important it was also about doing what was right.

In 1988 Brian's nephew Michael Meakin joined the business as a sales person after completing a university degree and a short stint selling chemicals. The business survived and prospered in the early 90s as the country went into the grips of a recession with interest rates hitting 17%.

During 1997 Brian and Michael attended an information seminar held by real estate trainer Neil Jenman. Brian liked what he saw and sent Michael off to attend the management seminar later that year. The company shortly afterwards implemented the Jenman system which was a natural progression for the business, as the Jenman system was based on providing the highest level of ethics and client care to consumers ever seen in the real estate industry.

In 1998 Michael took control of the business as Brian went into retirement to pursue his interests of fishing, camping and travelling which he did with vigour until he passed away in mid 2009.

Within a couple of years of running the business, Michael decided to sell the property management division and embark on an extensive hiring programme to build a sales team solely concentrating on selling residential properties. Within a short space of time the agency became the dominant agent in the area along with high levels of client satisfaction rarely seen in an industry known for its poor levels of service.

During 2005 it was decided with all the housing expansion to the north of Wyndham and with no agency in the area, to open a branch office in Tarneit. Steven Harris who was the sales manager at the time headed up the Tarneit office as the branch manager and did a fantastic job in getting the office established in a short space of time. With most new buyers to the area heading to Tarneit this office has become a vital cog in the success of the company.

Although the ultimate measure of the company's success has always been in the happiness of it's clients, the office was excited to win "Office Of The Year" for 4 consecutive years from a field of agents Australia wide at the 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 Australasian Real Estate Awards.

As innovators within the real estate industry and with an active team constantly on the lookout for new ideas, the company continues its role as a market leader and still abides by many of the values Brian Mark bought to the business when it first opened.
